We visited the Tillmans family farm this summer. Boys are 8 and 11 and they had a blast. Everything from finding hen eggs, hard boiling and eating to feeding alpacas carrots and hammock swinging. One of sons said, “I want to live on this farm!”I said, “oh you want to live on a farm when you grow up?” He says, “No, I want to live on This farm.” Thank you for your hospitality.
I’d spent a week in anticipation of finding some serenity from the hustle and bustle and this little farm did not disappoint! From our meals, to meeting the animals and learning about them, to the adorable cottage (I can’t remember when I’ve slept so well), and s’mores by the fire…everything was just wonderful. Above all, you will not find a more welcoming hostess and host!
Not only is this farm just in general wonderful, but they are so open and welcoming to people with special needs, which is so tough to find. I brought Dan, the 25 year old nonverbal autistic dude I care for, to visit and tour with the alpacas and not only did he LOVE it (and let me tell ya, he’s a hard one to please), but Jim and Eleanor were so willing to accommodate his needs. It takes a special kind of place to create such a magical experience for someone like Dan and I am so impressed they managed to do so.
My girlfriend and I got the pleasure of spending an evening at the farm. The cottage was very comfortable and is was amazing first thing in the morning. The whole vibe was peaceful and cathartic. And that was before the Rise of the Alpacas. We can’t wait for our next trip. Really want to meet Jubilee. And take my leather workshop with Jim.
Overall, great experience with even greater people.
The Tillmans are great hosts! I love their spacious farm and all the comforts of home that come with it. The highlight is the many animals on the farm. The cottage, adjacent to the main house is quaint and private. Book your getaway today! It’s a wonderful weekend away from the hustle and bustle.
If you are looking for a place to relax and get away from the stress of life for a weekend then I highly recommend this location. It’s a lovely location not far away, a short drive for most of us in the general Houston area. Check it out, book your weekend away, enjoy the talents of Jim and Eleanor, their animals and the stars at night. You won’t be disappointed!
My kids and I loved spending a couple of nights on the Sweet Deviation farm! It was fun and interesting learning about all the animals on the farm. My kids loved to help feed the animals and checking for eggs every day! The alpacas are gentle but intriguing characters and it was awesome getting to meet some in person! The atmosphere exudes relaxation. I most enjoyed laying in the hammocks in the afternoon and listening to the sounds of the farm. The accommodations are comfortable and inviting. Thanks Sweet Deviation Farm! We will definitely be back!
