The Break Up

It’s been over a month since I’ve posted. So (though I have no project to share) I thought I would at least post an update.

We are quickly approaching our move out deadline. I set out early this year to finally list the house we have lived in for the last four years.  The reasons for leaving are plenty, but the most important one is because I want to keep my chickens ( and get a goat 😉

If I’m honest, the last few months have been a far greater challenge than I anticipated.  Buying a foreclosure takes some financial acrobatics.  It is risky and can get out of control quickly.  I had posted previously about the dream home we found on a couple acres in a very desirable location.  We were on, then off, then on again.  (Like jilted lovers who don’t have the good sense to break up even though they have nothing to kind say to each other anymore and fight constantly)

So, here I am. Break up final and only moderately bitter and just a few hundred dollars poorer.  The search begins again.

Meanwhile the house we are trying to sell, the house that everyone said would sell in days, is a wall flower. We worked our little fingers to the bone to get it ready to show.  We had a stager come in and followed her advice to the letter…still no bites.

At the moment we are looking at a beautiful little gem that was originally built in 1900 and moved to a 5-acre parcel in the 1960s.  To say it is charming is an understatement.  The fact that is sits on 5 acres is a huge bonus.  The good news is: it is not a foreclosure. The bad news is: it may as well be.  The house will have to be leveled, this means that we can not get a VA loan. (thank you baby for your service to our country) This means we will have to come up with wads of cash upfront to put down on the house.  Wads of cash…no problem.  If only we could sell the house we are in.  You see my dilemma?

Side note: all of my knitting and crafting supplies are in storage (stager’s idea), so I have nothing to help distract me from my current situation.   🙁

So there you have it. I intend to start a project soon (it’s cheaper than therapy, which I have also considered, and better for me than booze, which has already proven a very welcome friend). I will post pictures of progress soon.  Until then,

Happy blogging!

Eleanor
