About

Jim and Ellie of Sweet Deviation Farm and Sweet Deviation Entertainment

My name is Eleanor and I have ADHD.

I was diagnosed as an adult, and my whole life experience began to make sense.

This website was launched in 2015 (before the diagnosis).

Sweet Deviation began as the name my husband, Jim and I adopted for our little band.

We sang”dulcet harmonies” and played guitar at various small venues and events in the Houston subarbs.

That evolved into a karaoke show by the same name.

The primary feature of the website took shape as a small passion project where I would share my crafty ideas and hoped to launch a knitting website.

As a self-taught knitter, I knew how frustrating learning could be, and I wanted to share my experience with others.

Ever the curious learner, I needed to make my own yarn and sought out to learn how to do that.  Naturally, I would need alpacas!

The same year, we ditched the Suburbs for a home in the country.

Sweet Deviation became the name of our small fiber farm.  I had a little shop and studio and we continued to work our  Karaoke shows and I added pottery and watercolor to my repertoire.

In March of 2020, I, like the rest of the world, was at a standstill.

Sweet Deviation Farm and Handmade Goods was shuttered. There would be no karaoke or large crowds.  I was left with nothing but an unsettling amount of anxiety.

I had all the time to review my life and spent those months on an inward quest to find out why I was so scattered.

I sought help, and that is when my diagnosis was made.

I was relieved and confused. It all made sense.  This was why I could never follow thru on ONE idea. Why I had an insatiable appetite for learning and doing everything all at once only to fail when I forget what I was gonna do before I had this new exciting idea.

So, I did what made the most sense to me, and launched a Podcast!

Sweet Deviation was born or reborn..again!  This name made all of the sense to me.  My whole life has been a series of Sweet Deviations

As I write this now, I am taking in the view from my new home in Minnesota!  During the time of my first Podcast series, we packed the fiber animals and hightailed it to Northern Minnesota!  Yes, it’s just another Sweet Deviation.

I am happy to report that I maintain my Art Business and Fiber Farm.  They can be found at Eleanortillmans.com and WoollyBobbin.com
